Guest mjb Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 I know it's not winter yet, but...... My Galaxy is a 96 model and I find it a real pain during the cold weather to get the car warm! I don't have an electric front window demister, so have to rely on the blowers. I seem to get a two fold problem: 1. it takes nearly five minutes before any air of sufficient heat is expelled to clear the frost;2. I get a constant draught from around the gear lever that seems to be coming from the front of the car and it is COLD air. Is this 'normal' - anyone else have these problems? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 You shouldn't have a draft around the gearlever - suggest that you take out the surround and check for missing panels etc.Yes, it does take a long time for the heater to work :-((Not much you can do about this - unless if car is parked close to your house, run an electric fan heater into it and switch it on from inside the house. Make sure that the heater is placed inside the car on something that won't melt if it gets too hot!HTHIvor Quote
Dave-G Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 You dint mention the engine in your gal, however if it's a tdi I think the hot water pick up point is on the "cold" side of the thermostat..so you'll unfortunatly need to wait for the engine to get near running temperature before the stat opens to allow cold water into the engine - and hot water out! FREDT refers to the preheater...I would lurve to know how to enable that feature,there seems to be a lack of info on that in the owner handbook,and ford dealers dont seem to know about it either! I just wish I had an electric front window demister and then it would save me getting up TEN minutes earlier in the winter just to clear the damn thing :angry: Quote
